This is off the Bermuda Triangle,  where 16+ ships washed up on a sand bar. The mystery is still unsolved

Actually the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle has been given a scientific explanation: methane vents which have been discovered in that region.
Methane reduces the density of water, causing ships that would normally float, to instead sink.
Methane, when in gas form, messes with the electrical components of aircraft, causing them to fail and sometimes fall right out of the sky.
Methane also causes the water to turn a ghostly greenish color, and the “ghost ships” reported to be seen are simply green reflections of the ships that scatter the bottom of the triangle.

Fucking science, man.

Today, in things we never expected to be posting to this blog as serious technology: The Warp Drive.
Apparently, scientists at NASA have developed a mathematical model showing that true warp drive may be possible using practical amounts of energy.
This would make it possible to get to the star system closest to Earth in about 5 months.
Amazing.  Now, they must test it in the lab.

This is a reminder that we occasionally post real science on this blog. In this case, another step to seeing the rest of the universe, Whovians. GO SCIENCE!

Adam Savage dipping his fingers into a pot of molten lead. Immediately prior to submerging his fingers in the lead, he wet them with water, which will form a thin protective layer of water vapor on contact with the lead, which was heated to 850 degrees Fahrenheit. This is known as the Leidenfrost effect.

Ladies and gents, I give you SCIENCE.

i was just telling somebody about this the other day, holy fuck this is cool
