[A picture worth a thousand words. And a glimpse at a cold, hard truth that so many don’t understand. Combat-induced post-traumatic stress isn’t immediately classified as a disorder. -R]
The real tragedy of veterans suffering from PTSD is that we are losing more people through PTSD related suicides than we are through combat. In the US, one veteran commits suicide every 90 minutes. The numbers are even higher in Australia. (source: American Psychological Assoc.)
In an effort to help alleviate some of this suffering, The Veterans Stress Project, a non profit research and teaching institution, is offering free and low cost sessions using energy psychology to veterans and their families. Through this work, veterans are experiencing on average, a 60% + reduction in PTSD symptoms.
They do some amazing work and are always looking for qualified therapists to volunteer.
This is really important, guys.
I don’t usually put these kinds of things up with comments, but my dad is a veteran recovering from PTSD. The kind of help he’s been given is remarkable, and there are a lot of veterans like him out there that do not have access to the care and support needed to get through the kind of horrors you experience while at war.
Wounded Warriors project is another amazing organization.
Anything you can do helps. Seriously. Our men and women in uniform deserve our support, because yes—they do fight to protect our rights.
I’m reblogging this because my daddy is a Vietnam War Veteran with really bad PTSD. Everyone needs to know about this. It’s really important.
my older brother suffers from this, it’s a serious matter

I’ve seen my father suffer through this night for so many years. One year he hid under his bed. And just like some kids...
